Furnace problems we fix
- No heat at all: igniter, flame sensor, gas valve, control board, tripped safeties.
- Lights then shuts off: dirty flame sensor, failing pressure switch, blocked venting.
- Blowing cold air: high-limit trips, failed burners, thermostat settings.
- Short cycling: restricted airflow, sensor faults, oversized equipment.
- Noisy furnace: inducer or blower motor bearings, loose panels, delayed ignition.
- Error code flashing: we read the LED code and start from there.
Quick checks before you call
- Set the thermostat to heat and a few degrees above room temperature; replace its batteries.
- Check the furnace filter - a clogged filter is the most common cause of shutdowns.
- Make sure the furnace power switch (it looks like a light switch) is on and the breaker hasn't tripped.
- Check that the front panel is fully closed - a safety switch stops the furnace if it isn't.
No heat? Call now.
Tell us the furnace make and any flashing code. We'll explain the diagnostic fee and book the earliest visit.
When repair stops making sense
We'll always tell you if a repair is the right answer. If your furnace is near the end of its life, we'll price a furnace replacement and a heat pump conversion side by side so you can compare up-front cost, running cost and rebates.
Smell gas? Leave the house and call FortisBC's emergency line from outside. Don't call us first.
